Montuso was organized for the primary purpose of providing assistance and support for educational needs to distressed and underpriviledged children and women in developing countries.

Independencia is Montuso's first fundraising event and was inspired by our first trip to Mexico where we provided school supplies to primary school children.

Michael Rios is a legendary bay-area artist whose art and murals made the mission district famous. His works include several well known album covers including Carlos Santana's Supernatural. Michael's work is highly regarded for its power, vision and color.

Carlos Vargas was paralyzed from the neck down in November 2000 from a gunshot wound to the neck. Two months later his son was born and he began painting. It was these two events that motivated him to continue living.
