DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

DAY of the DEAD

Day of the Dead San Francisco is one of my favorite community events. Its a perfect San Francisco event, there's an opportunity to dress up, there's some great music, street theater, there's ways politics can bubble out. What makes it different from Halloween is its underlying solemnity -- this is about the dead after all. The annual procession, is organized by Rescue Culture Collective. Please bring flowers, candles, and remembrances of your loved ones for our community altar. This event is FREE and open to the public, wheel chair accessible. I'll be wandering around following the drummers, or the brass band that dresses all in white.

The procession starts at 24th and Bryant streets, and makes a big loop down bryant to 25th, down 25th to mission, mission to 24th, and then 24th to folsom, folsom into Garfield Park where all the altars are located.
