Tokyo Halloween Party, Advocates (Shinjuku), Oct 29 9pm-1am
Come out and party with local gay guys & gaijin crowd on Oct 29 in Tokyo

Get into costume, show up at Advocates for a ad-hoc street party (sorry NO FREE drinks) from 9:00pm or so until 1am or later, Drink some soft drinkw or alcoholic drinks and enjoy the charms of the costumed clientele at your favorite international Ni-chome bar. For those who dare, a risque, revealing costume will make things a bit more sexy.

You can find out about Shinjuku Ni-chome (2-chome) on sunbuns' blog: http://sunbuns.blogspot.com/2007/06/cruising-in-tokyo.html
Located on that blog is the Utopia map in English (linked in blog above). Advocates is a popular street-side gay bar in Shinjuku Ni-chome. It is #17 on the Utopia map. The main Shinjuku traffic signal is at the intersection between 17, 16 and 11, 12. (just about 3 blocks from Shinjuku Gyoen Park entrance and about 6-7 blocks from Shinjuku JR Station.
Location #3 the map is 24-Kaikan (gay sauna & hotel), which is just across from the back of a large shrine and just up the street 100 ft from Shinjuku Park (formerly the Ni-chome Koen, which is now closed and under new construction).
I won't be at the Gay Halloween Street Party that year because I will be attending one in Osaka. This event is (slowly) starting to become a
micro tradition in front of Advocates Cafe (gay bar) in Tokyo's
Shinjuku Ni-chome district ( a 10-minute walk from the main Shinjuku
Train station) or about 2 minutes on foot from Shinjuku San-chome Subway station. Advocates Cafe appears to a wide assortment of men, women - both gay, bisexual and the curious.
The clientele spills out in the street corner, since the cafe itself is quite small. Drinks cost 800 yen or more. (So you may want to have a few somewhere else (or at home or at dinner) before arriving.
If you are in Tokyo on Sat, Oct 29, then drop by Advocates (in costume or without) from 9pm til the bar closes around 02:00am, or you could try your luck for another spontaneous Wild Ride at Shinjuku JR Station at about 10pm that night. But beware the police will be out in droves to prevent it. Still....
Back down in Osaka, I'll be dressed as a Greek Senator - in a
toga, the one I described from N2N in an earlier blog posting. Stop by
and give me a Trick or Treat, or just say hello. The Osaka crowd will be meeting at local bar, and then spending the night partying at Hokuohkan (http://www.hokuoukan.jp)
If you will need a place to stay, you can try a local capsule hotel or there are couple of inns and business hotels in and around Ni-chome.
However, you would probably have a lot more fun, dancing and maybe having sex with other revelers at one of the after-hours bars (Arty-Farty) or at 24-Kaikan (Shinjuku-3 chome branch), a gay bath and hotel (minimum 2400 yen entrance for 12 hours in a public room, or private rooms starting at 5000 yen and up).

The Google Japan Map link below shows Shinjuku 2-chome Koen (park), which is partly closed now due to renovations. Just opposite the pinpoint is 24 Kaikan (24会館, a gay sauna and hotel. From the pinpoint, turn right and walk 100 ft to main road (Shinjuku Koen Dori (the parade route), then turn left. Go passed Family Mart to traffic light (about 150 ft), turn right. Advocates is on the left side, one street in from the traffic signal). Wear a costume, and join the party after 9:00pm on Saturday, Oct 29, 2011.
